Our Story

Building Infrastructure for Modern Dermatologic Care

DermIQ was founded on a simple belief: better communication between clinicians leads to better patient care. We’re creating a year-round ecosystem where dermatology education extends beyond events, collaboration becomes routine, and referral pathways actually persist.

Why DermIQ Exists

The Problem with Dermatology Education

The dermatology education landscape is saturated with meetings—but structurally limited. Conferences are transactional and time-bound. Education ends when the event ends. Apps are used only for logistics, then shut down. Clinicians rarely maintain relationships or communication afterward. Referrals, follow-ups, and shared learning are lost after the meeting weekend. As one clinician put it: "You go to a meeting, you log into the app, you attend, and then it cuts you off. You never really talk to anyone again." This dead-end model leaves patients caught in the gap—experiencing inconsistent pathways, delayed referrals, and fragmented outcomes. DermIQ was created to replace this model with a living, ongoing ecosystem.

As one clinician put it: “You go to a meeting, you log into the app, you attend, and then it cuts you off. You never really talk to anyone again.”

This dead-end model leaves patients caught in the gap—experiencing inconsistent pathways, delayed referrals, and fragmented outcomes. DermIQ was created to replace this model with a living, ongoing ecosystem.

We advance dermatology through shared knowledge.

DermIQ brings together everyone involved in skin health—because the reality of dermatologic care is that it rarely lives in one lane. Dermatologists, primary care clinicians, APPs, aesthetic providers, and trainees are all making decisions that shape outcomes. But too often, they’re doing it with different training, different thresholds for referral, and no shared system for communication.

DermIQ exists to change the structure, not just the schedule.

This is a collaborative ecosystem built around a simple clinical truth: better-connected clinicians deliver better care. That means education isn’t treated as a weekend experience. It becomes a year-round continuity of learning, case-based discussion, and relationships that hold up in real practice—when a PCP is deciding whether to biopsy, when an APP is managing chronic inflammatory disease, when an aesthetic provider flags a concerning lesion, or when a resident needs guidance navigating the gray zones.

And the mission is deeper than convening people in the same room. DermIQ is building an infrastructure for dermatologic care that transcends specialties, settings, and silos—so every clinician who touches a patient’s skin is equipped to deliver their best, and patients benefit from a system where clinicians actually communicate.

A Letter From Our President

Naiem T. Issa, MD, PhD, FAAD
Chair and Medical Director | DermIQ Summit

Dear Industry Partners,

On behalf of the Diversified Dermatology Education Foundation (DDEF), it is my great pleasure to invite you to join us for DermIQ Summit to be held in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, on June 5 – 7, 2026. This educational experience is designed to unite dermatology healthcare providers and primary care clinicians in a collaborative forum focused on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based education, interdisciplinary communication, and the development of a stronger collegial network.

As the demand for accessible, high-quality dermatologic care continues to grow, the partnership between dermatology specialists and primary care providers has never been more essential. DermIQ aims to bridge that gap — empowering clinicians across all levels of care to confidently recognize, manage, and refer skin conditions with excellence.

Through CME-accredited sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and collaborative discussions led by distinguished faculty, attendees will gain practical knowledge to enhance both medical and aesthetic dermatology care. Beyond the classroom, DermIQ fosters connection — creating opportunities for dermatology APPs, physicians, and primary care professionals to build long-term professional relationships rooted in shared expertise and mutual respect.

We warmly welcome you to be part of this growing community of learners and leaders who are redefining how dermatologic care is delivered across the healthcare continuum. Together, we can strengthen collaboration, expand access to care, and advance our shared mission: Excellence in education, collaboration, and patient-centered dermatology.

How We Started

Recognizing a Critical Failure

DermIQ was founded by Naiem T. Issa, MD, PhD, FAAD, Risha Bellomo, MPAS, PA-C, and partners who recognized a fundamental flaw in how dermatology education operates: Most dermatologic care is delivered outside traditional dermatology offices—yet education, collaboration, and referral infrastructure remain siloed.

DermIQ is intentionally being built as a multi-layer platform, not a single offering.

Four Connected Pillars
One Continuous Experience

1. Live CME Events

Our flagship gatherings bring the ecosystem together for focused education, interdisciplinary alignment, and meaningful connection. These events are designed to create momentum and establish shared language—not to be the sole experience.

2. Year-Round Education

Education that lives beyond the stage: recorded sessions, faculty-led power hours, case-based discussions, and practical resources. Some content remains open; other education may evolve into membership-based access as the ecosystem matures.

3. Professional Network

A growing community of clinicians united by a shared commitment to better patient care—where interdisciplinary connection is built year-round, and collaboration becomes the standard, not the exception. Across specialties and settings. Daily

4. Technology Platform

A future DermIQ app built for secure clinician-to-clinician messaging, case discussions and referral follow-ups—enabling direct, real-workflow conversations. Not social media; a tool for clinical efficiency and better outcomes for care—now.

Dermatology care has evolved— but most education still lives in silos.

Primary care clinicians are diagnosing skin disease earlier. APPs are managing increasingly complex dermatologic presentations. Aesthetic clinicians are encountering medical pathology in cosmetic settings. Dermatologists remain the clinical leaders—yet cross-specialty coordination often lacks a shared structure.

DermIQ 2026 (6)

DermIQ was built to address this reality. We believe that better education across roles leads to clearer communication, more appropriate referrals, and stronger patient outcomes. DermIQ creates a shared foundation that helps clinicians work together with confidence—not in parallel.

We are a dermatology and aesthetics-led, CME-accredited education ecosystem designed to bring every clinician involved in skin health into the same learning environment—with shared expectations, practical frameworks, and shared responsibility for outcomes.

BEYOND THE CONFERENCE

Our long-term vision is a year-round platform that extends learning through case discussion, peer collaboration, faculty insight, and structured referral pathways.
